USS Valiance - Sovereign Class Starship

Situation: Crew Members' lives in danger

It was a sound night so far for the crew of the USS Valiance under the command of Captain Surago Mutworth of the UFP under Fleet Captain Talmid. With the second shift of fresh crew, the ship could be on alert while others revived.

That was true until...
"Sir, a USS Valor class starship just sent out a distress signal. They said they encountered a Borg Cube."

Now that wasn't something you heard everyday.

Captain Mutworth replied, "A Borg Cube, you say? What kind of bad joke is this?"

The crew however were petrified with fear. The captain knew something was wrong. This was no joke.

"Set course for the Valor's last known location."

"Roger, Captain."

The first feeling the Valiance felt as it entered the objective coordinates was shaking. The first thing they heard was:

"Sir, hull integrity at 17%!"

That wasn't something you heard everyday either.

"Raise shields!"

"Rear deflectors are offline!"

"The generators have collapsed!"

"We're doomed!"

"Hull integrity at 10%!"

"The fighter bay is collapsed!"

"The cube is firing!"

"Return fire!"

The order was loud and clear, and well accepted. Suddenly, the Valiance came out of its struggle, bravely firing its Phaser Strips at the Borg Cube. Anti-Borg torpedoes quickly streaked towards the target which quickly collapsed the Borg's shields.

With the Cube's shields down, the USS Valiance gradually regained footing, launching hails, volleys, and assaults of Phaser fire, torpedoes, and fighters at the Borg Cube. Fighter pilots knocked out the targeting grid on the Borg Cube's systems disabling it for a brief period of time.

In three minutes, the Valiance fired a single Quantum torpedo that struck the Borg Cube to end the battle.

But war is not without losses. The Valiance was too late to save the Valor and the crew on board. They were forced to destroy the starship, because it had been assimilated and the UFP lost seven fighter pilots that day.

-Victory comes at a cost, but the cost does not remain set.

However, the battle had its benefits. The newly constructed Sovereign Class outperformed its expectations. Despite its 10% hull integrity, it was able to survive without the loss of any part of the ship.
